Kalundborg - green industrial municipality 2020
Kalundborg Municipality has attached great importance for several years now on the promotion of sustainability and crime it-friendly technologies. Not least because many of our large industrial companies have, by reason of their production, heavy energy consumption.
Kalundborg Municipality
- the largest industrial area on Zealand outside Copenhagen
For example, the town has two of the world's largest enzyme and insulin production facilities, Northern Europe's largest industrial wastewater plant and the Baltic region's second largest oil refinery. In 2009, the world's largest second generation bioethanol demonstration plant to date was built. For this reason, greater energy efficiency and increased sustainability have tremendous potential in Kalundborg Municipality.
Some 9 % of Danmarks CO2 emissions emanate from industries in Kalundborg Municipality. Capita is therefore only natural for us to lead the struggle against global climate change and contribute proactively to building a sustainable energy and environment model. We have done so by initiating numerous cutting edge climate, energy and environment oriented activities in close cooperation with industry and even more are on the way.
All steps are steps on the way to an ambitious goal: Making Kalundborg Denmark's green industrial municipality in 2020. Here is an overview of our most important climate, energy and environmental activities:
